Rainbow Axolotl ( w/ Free Video Tutorial)

In the summer of 2021, I freehanded my first axolotl after being inspired by a custom order request. Little did I know, I would end up making hundreds for people all around the world. This axolotl is by far my most popular plushie with endless color combinations and you can make one too!

All you need is some yarn, a yarn needle, stuffing, a way to add eyes, and your favorite crochet hook, and you can make your very own version of this magical creature!

This pattern uses size 6 bulky yarn, but has been successfully completed with other types of yarn as well. View examples  here for different axolotls made by my pattern testers and others who’ve completed this pattern.

The colors in this pattern are written for a rainbow axolotl, but you can easily replace it with your choice colors. I’ve included some examples of axolotls with other color schemes as inspiration in the carousel on the left.
